Welcome to the Legend of Zelda: Hero of Souls official game
development page, where you'll find all the latest info on the new
game in development, Legend of Zelda: Hero of Souls, a 2D
fan game by Strike Software and NT Software Productions.
This game idea actually started around midyear of 2003 as an alternate
story was developed for one of the world's most favorite games:
Legend of Zelda. The concept was vague, and the design was
in it's beginning stages. It seemed hard to make, and considering
the fact that everyone in the team was breaking up for college made
this project seem impossible. However, after a little work and motivation
to get it started, the project came together and is a fully-functioning
development.p>
This is a darker fan game, one with a story that truly brings out
the characters in the Legend of Zelda series to a new reality and
depth never before created. That makes it cool. Keeping the same structure and gameplay
as the 2D versions (mainly the SNES and game boy advance version of Legend
of Zelda: A Link to the Past), a new engine is being created
specifically for this game, allowing more freedom of programming
and design.
What makes this game different? Well, the fact that the story is
darker, the characters are more playable, and the music, sound,
and graphics are remodeled could be a hint. Compositions of music
are going to be original, and characters abilities will be just
as unique as new characters give us the freedom to have new weapons
and special abilities.
The game will keep the same classic feel of the 2D adventures that
Link faced in his official games by Nintendo, but will also
introduce some new elements to keep the player interested and excited.
The new features are a blast to think about, especially with everything
that can be done with them. The game's release date has not been
specified, but there have been some goals set for late Summer
of 2004 or at least this year. But it didn't happen. Stay tuned for more information
on this new, exciting fan game. May the way of the hero be with you.
